The vow is spoken in the first practitioner ritual before the Light of the Mysteries and is not directed to the teacher personally, but to the Light. Rather, the teacher and other
attendees witness the will of the practitioner to behave ethically, loyally, respectfully, and responsibly toward the Haganat Ha-Nefesh system. Any questions regarding the vow should be
clarified before the workshop or at the latest before the ritual.

I hereby solemnly undertake to conduct myself
as a representative of the Hagannat ha-Nefesh System of Spiritual
Self-Defence
in such a manner as to promote the dignity of the Hagannat ha-Nefesh System
and the reputation of the Western Mystery Tradition.
I will always carry out my work as a Guardian with love to my fellow men
and with sense of responsibility.
In my work as a Guardian, and in my life as a whole, I will strive
to actualise the highest ethical ideals within myself.
I will learn to distinguish between a real threat and what is not real,
that I may not fall prey to the phantasms of my own mind and I will
accept the guidance of my teachers in these matters.
I further undertake to refrain from performing, offering or teaching
any unethical or dubious, or superstitious practices
which may harm the reputation of the Mysteries.
I pledge myself to be respectful and loyal to my Hagannat ha-Nefesh
teacher and his or her Hagannat ha-Nefesh teachers, and to uphold
and to honour the tradition of the Hagannat ha-Nefesh teachers
and to contribute to a respectful and friendly way of interaction
among all Hagannat ha-Nefesh practitioners.
I will defend the Light, I will guard the mysteries and I will protect
the Hagannat ha-Nefesh tradition and its spiritual source, the
Brotherhood of the Eternal Light.
I undertake to pass on or make available the Hagannat ha-Nefesh system
and its contents
to others only with permission respectively authorization to teach it.
Salomo Baal-Shem has been studying and practicing the Western Mystery Tradition for over twenty years.
